Bryant Michael “Bud” McCarthy, resident of Hendersonville, NC, passed away on July 12, 2020, at the age of 71. Bryant was born in Albany, NY, the son of Bryant Edward and Ruth Marie McCarthy, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Kelly McCarthy, sister Maureen Rigert (Seattle, WA), brother Paul McCarthy (Franklin Falls, NY), and sister-in-law Kimberly Lesnett. He also leaves his loving cousins, Frederick Grober, Kathleen Koester, and Patricia Dreisenstock and families. Bryant attended Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, NY, and the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. He served in the New York National Guard, and he had a long and successful career as a commercial insurance underwriter for The Hartford, Zurich, CNA, and PMA. He was a professional real estate broker and a medical bus driver for the Spartanburg Regional Hospital in South Carolina prior to retiring. As a licensed pilot, he loved flying small aircraft. He and Kelly belonged to several dog-training organizations. He and Kelly currently have four Australian Cattle Dogs, who Kelly has shown in various competitions. Bryant was kind, helpful, and well-loved. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
