It is with deep sadness we announce David Michael Butts went to be with the good Lord, on September 27, 2024, at the John F Keever Solace Center. He was born in Lenior County on December 24th, 1951, growing up in Pink Hill North Carolina. He moved to Asheville in 1978.
David's career spanned several decades beginning with the tobacco markets in Kinston NC. After moving to Asheville, he worked at Cranston Print Works until its closure. He later joined Ingles Warehouse, dedicating himself to it for many years until his retirement.
The family was the cornerstone of David's life. He was a loving husband to his late wife, Jeanette Butts, and a wonderful stepfather and grandfather. After marrying Jeanette, he embraced the role of a stepparent to three teenage children. He was always kind and loving. He was willing to help with absolutely anything needed. His role as a grandfather and great-grandfather brought him immense joy. He wanted to be present for every birthday or special celebration and took pride in supporting them and doing life with us. He never hesitated to say I Love you, always wanting those around to know he cared.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Pearl Butts, his wife Jeanette Butts, and his brother Joseph Butts.
Surviving are his stepchildren Mike Lanning (Kaylynne), Yvette Haney (Jeff), and Scott Lanning (Will), Grandchildren Cristy Brunner (Peter), Sam Haney (Lisa), Mallory Hall (Phil), Clint Lanning (Melissa) and seven great-grandchildren Oliver Brunner, Evana Brunner, Augustina Brunner, Selah Hall, Thatcher Hall, Axton HAney, and Pippa Lanning. His sister-in-law Linda Butts, nephews Joe Butts (Laura) and Philip Butts (Deidre), along with several great nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11:00 am at Dix Creek Cemetery.
