George Boynton, Sr. April 7, 1946 – November 11, 2024
“We know we don’t get him forever but we get forever with him.”
Gary George Boynton, Sr. beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on the morning of November 11, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on April 7, 1946, to Roy and Evelyn Boynton, Gary lived a life marked by hard work, generosity, and deep love for his family, friends, and faith.
Gary spent his life as a truck driver, traveling across the country on long hauls and working locally. His job became a way to build unforgettable memories with his children, many of whom accompanied him on trips, spending cherished days talking and hanging out in his truck. When not on the road, Gary loved fishing, building Diecast trucks, and travGaryeling to visit his children and grandchildren. He was known for his quick wit, warm heart, and ability to make anyone laugh.
During the holidays, Gary brought joy to countless lives by playing Santa Claus for nursing homes and charity events. He always offered his time as a blessing, never charging for his appearances, and embodying the true spirit of the season.
Gary’s faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life. His love for the Lord guided his actions, his relationships, and the kindness he showed to others. While his family and friends grieve his passing, they take comfort in knowing that Gary is now celebrating in heaven with his father, Roy; his brother, Ronnie; friend and “Husband-n-law”, Tim and others who have gone on before him.
Gary was married three times, each marriage bringing meaningful connections and love to his life. His first marriage to Patti blessed him with four children: Tami Halliman (married to Daniel), Kimberly Phillips (married to Mike), Michael Boynton (married to Allison), and Heather Kincaid (married to Bernard). His second marriage to Sandy brought Jessica and BJ into his life. Gary shared 17 wonderful years with his third wife, Terry, who stood by his side until his passing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Terry; his children Tami (Daniel), Kimberly (Mike), Michael (Allison), Heather (Bernard), Jessica, and Gary George, Jr. (BJ); his sisters Sheila Young and Sharon Parker; his grandchildren, including Amber Halliman, Erin Wales, Ashley Hinman, Erica Halliman-Wilson, Drew Lilly, Tyler Lilly, Nathan Lilly, Christian Kincaid, Kaden Kincaid, Katelyn Boynton, Alex Boynton, Gabby Boyce, Dominic Nelson, Haileigh Shiver, and Adam Shiver and Blake Boynton; many Great Grandchildren, including Eleanor & Georgia Hinman, Emmylou, Josephine & Eveline Wales, Piper, Heidi & Archie Halliman-Wilson and soon-to-be Gracelyn Lilly along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Roy Boynton, Step mother, Bernice Boynton, Mother, Evelyn Boynton and his brother, Ronnie Boynton.
Gary’s life was a testament to kindness, faith, family, and love. He will be fondly remembered for his big heart, his passion for creating laughter, and his dedication to making everyone around him feel valued and loved.
A celebration of Gary's life will be held at 3:00 PM on November 23, 2024, at Emma Heights Church of God, 645 Emma Road, Asheville, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Samaritan’s Purse to help the people of Asheville and other Western North Carolina residents who have lost so much from Hurricane Helene. Gary was completely heartbroken by the great loss in his home area. Please click this link to donate. Thank you. Gary George Boynton, Sr.-Asheville-NC
