Harold Franklin Shumar, 62, of Asheville, NC, passed away April 28th after a courageous battle against cancer.
Harold was born to Carl Shumar and Jeanne Kiser, October 18th, 1956, in Rantoul, Illinois. He graduated from Center Grove High School, Greenwood, IN, in 1975. He married Linda Gilmour in 1980 and they lived together in Bargersville, IN. Together they had two children.
He leaves his legacy to two children, Addie Rogers (Husband, Charles Rogers) and Larissa Shumar. He has two grandchildren, Atlas and Myles Rogers. He also leaves to cherish his memory two siblings, Richard Shumar and Mike Ferg. His family remembers him as a loving and devoted father, grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by Jeanne Ferg (Mother), Nelson Ferg (Stepfather).
Harold served in the United States Army after he graduated from high school. His trade after the army was as a CNC Machinist. He was very passionate about his work until he retired. Harold was a lover of the outdoors, camping, 4-wheeling, target shooting, and hunting for mushrooms. He always referred to everyone he met as “Pard”.
Harold will be cremated and his ashes spread across the Blue Ridge Parkway as were his wishes.
