Joel Douglas Downs

Joel Douglas Downs, age 67, of Asheville, NC, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025 following an extended illness. He was born in Johnson City, TN on December 21, 1957, but he lived most of his life in Buncombe County. 

He was a graduate of AC Reynolds High School, Class of 1976, and a graduate of A-B Tech where he earned a degree in banking and finance. He was a retired employee of Bank of America.

He is preceded in death by his father, Marshall Gerald Downs and his brothers, Perry Michael Downs and Gregory Keith Downs.

Joel is survived by his mother, Glendell “Tootie” Downs of Swannanoa, niece, Amber Phillips (Destiny) of Mars Hill and extended family members.

The family would like to thank the staff at Care Partners for the care they provided Joel. Special thanks to his care givers, Natasha Clancy, Kathy Worley, and Amanda Breedlove.
