Joseph Monroe Iii

Asheville- Joseph Reece Monroe III (JR), 39, died peacefully at home on October 27, 2018.  JR was born on May 4, 1979 to Joseph and Gail Monroe Jr. in Pinehurst, NC.  He graduated from Pine Crest High School and briefly went to Appalachian State University for Food Service Management.  From there he found his home in Asheville, where he excelled in the Culinary Arts, achieving his degree from AB-Tech Community College.

JR's true love and passion were cooking good food and feeding those around him.  He was a natural born leader who never met a stranger, making JR well known throughout the culinary community.

Surviving family are his parents Joe and Gail Monroe Jr. of Southern Pines, son Reece Brown Monroe and ex-wife Amanda of Asheville, along with his brother Bev and wife Melissa Monroe of Candler, NC.

A celebration of life will follow at a later date in the Spring.
