Laura Jane “Janie” Garrett Edwards Trepanier Davis

We would like to honor the life of our beautiful mother. Janie was a people person, always concerned for the comfort and welfare of others. She spent her life helping and caring for people in their time of need. She loved everyone she ever met and believed everyone she ever met and believed everyone was a friend. God has never created a more loving and caring woman.

Janie was born on July 28, 1940, in Grosse Point Farm, Wayne Co, Michigan.

The daughter of Oral Clayton Garret of Burns City, Indiana and Geneva Lille Edwards of Oden, Indiana.

Janie and her brothers, Dallas Oral Garrett and Frank Douglas Garrett, grew up in Oden, Indiana and Detroit, Michigan. She was a lifelong member of the Christian Science Church.

While attending McKenize High School in Detroit, she found her passion for swimming and diving. She won many awards and was chosen to the Junior Olympics Team. She attended Henry Ford Community College.

Janie was a very hard-working person. She enjoyed working and getting things done. She started babysitting at the age of 11. She had many jobs including an ice cream store, waitressing, secretarial and working the assembly line at GM Saginaw Steering Gear.

As a young woman, she married and had four children; Steve, Bob, Ron and Jennifer. Life was a challenge raising 4 children on her own. She worked tirelessly, often having two jobs to make ends meet. She often said, “we don’t have much, but we have each other”.

Janie married Robert “Tripp” Trepanier in 1976. The family moved to Pinconning, Michigan where the kids attended school. Tripp took the job of Police Chief for the city of Pinconning and provided our family with a huge amount of love and support. We finally felt our family was complete. In 1986, the kids moved out, they moved to Hernando, Florida. Tripp pass in 1991.

Janie then moved to Asheville, NC and married Earl Davis.

Their love of adventure took them to Costa Rica to Canada, panning for gold and exploring the outdoors.

Janie was proceeded in by; husbands Robert Trepanier and Earl Davis; brother Dallas Garrett and grandchild Samantha Trepanier.

She is survived by four children, and two stepchildren: Steve & Ruthanne Edwards, Bob Edwards, Ron Trepanier, Jennifer & Denny Gruwell, Brain & Beth Davis, Pam Ambrose & Scott Garrison.
