Loyd Shelton, Jr.

Loyd Shelton, Jr., 98, of Waynesville passed away Monday, May 2, 2022 at his residence.  A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Oey Russell Shelton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Velma Hannah Shelton in 2004 and three sons, Loyd, Larry and Burl Rose.

Lloyd loved watching and reading westerns.  One of his favorite pastimes was running beagles. He was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Sanders and her husband, Clifford; two sons, Tony Shelton and his wife, Lynn and Darris Rose and his wife, Hazel along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Garrett Hillcrest Mausoleum with Rev. Dr. Roy Kilby officiating.  Military Honors will be rendered by the Haywood County VFW, American Legion and NC National Guard.
