Lynne A Edwards, 81, passed away on June 16, 2024, surrounded by her family who adored her.

Lynnie, as she was known by family and friends, was born in Columbus, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Don and Anne Mowery. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Don II, Ed and sister Cathy.

Lynnie spent her early years in Columbus and Miami, Florida, finally settling in Asheville to be with her daughter and grandchildren who she adored. Most mornings you could find Lynnie sitting at her kitchen table with her cup of coffee and the newspaper crossword puzzle. Nights were spent eating her favorite ice cream and watching David Letterman. Lynnie will be remembered by her quick wit and infectious sense of humor. She always left you laughing. She was a gifted artist and left a beautiful collection of paintings that her friends and family will cherish forever.

The thing that gave Lynnie the most joy was family. She adored her six siblings, who often looked up to her as a second mother. She loved spending any time she could with her three grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She lit up whenever they were near or on the phone. She shared stories and gave the best advice, that always included a prayer.

Lynnie will be incredibly missed by her daughter, Wendy and husband Mark Bates, grandchildren, Brandon and wife Kimberly, Justin and wife Olivia, and Molly and husband Mitchell Glover. Her great grandchildren Anastasia Bates and Wesley Glover. Her siblings, Thomas Mowery, Gregg Mowery, and Anell Haque. We are all grateful that our Lynnie is no longer trapped by dementia and is whole again.

A memorial mass will be held on Friday July 12th, 10:30am at St Barnabas Catholic Church 109 Crescent Hill Rd, Arden, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Memory Care of Asheville 100 Far Horizons Ln, Asheville, NC 28803.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the physicians, nursing team and staff at Fleshers Fairview Health Care Center where Lynnie spent her final months.

The care of Ms. Edwards has been entrusted to A Simple Cremation and an online memorial register is available at "Obituaries" at https://www.asimplecremationwnc.com.
