Raymond Mcfarland Sr.

Ray McFarland Sr., 90, of Franklin, N.C., born October 22, 1928 and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Which is where he later met and married Audrey Jordan.

Beloved husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Great Great Grandfather passed Friday, July 5, 2019 with his family by his side at the Charles George V.A. Medical Center in Asheville, N.C., after complications from Alzheimer's.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley McFarland and Mary Kuchner.

He served as a Sergeant (tank commander) 3rd Infantry Division in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Ray's love of Sports and the Cincinnati Reds passed down to all of the children and he threw a mean knuckleball.  A member of the American Legion, Post 0554, Cincinnati, OH.  A member of the OK Horseshoe Club in Cincinnati and was an avid lover of the game.  His love for life, people and animals resonated to all, but his greatest adoration was the love and appreciation he held for his family and his love of "his" Queen City.

Ray is loved and is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Audrey (Jordan) McFarland and their children Claudia (Max) McFarland Richards and Ray McFarland Jr., Mary McFarland.

Cherished grandfather of Brian Richards, Laura (Andrew) Richards Baksh, J.R. (Jamie) Richards, Sarah (Jed) Richards, Jessica (Curtis) McFarland Bowling, Ray (Rachel) McFarland III.

Devoted great grandfather of Ashley (John) Richards Grant, Lauren (Cody) Richards Smith, Victoria Richards, Cody Wagner, Zoey Richards and Ray McFarland IV.

Great great grandfather of Matthew, William, Nathan, Allana, Caleb, Xander and Eveyah.
