Rena Marie Sawyer

Rena Marie Sawyer Myers was born to Dennis and Lynn Sawyer on October 1,1971 in Baltimore, Maryland. Raised by her mother and father, Irma and Lee Reedy. Rena departed this life on Monday, March 24th, 2025. 

Rena received her formal education at Montreat College, receiving her bachelor’s degree and working many years as a beloved social worker to all the children and teenagers of Black Mountain Home for Children. 

Rena was preceded in death by her brother Dennis and her mother Lynn. 

She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, two daughters, Lilly and Cierra along with their partners Adam Morgan and Rashad Williams; grandchildren, Chava Morgan, ,Zaidyn Williams, Ivie Rae Williams and India Williams; mother, Irma; two fathers, Lee Reedy and Dennis Sawyer; step mother, Denise Sawyer; sister, Jeanene Reedy; brother and his wife, Walter and Dora Reedy; and several loving friends. 

Rena was a selfless woman, being a rock or shoulder to cry on for many. Her humor could put a smile on anyone's face and she rarely knew a stranger. She was an amazing mother and Mimi, always thinking about us in every way. Her acts of kindness will forever be remembered. On her journey of life, there were many that took a loving part, Chris and Beth to name a few. Their kindness towards her along the years helped shape and mold Rena’s life and they became her family, helping her to go see her mother, going to the store, and making her go to the doctor haha! Rena will be forever missed by many but forever cherished in our hearts.

Sad but sudden was the call

Of one so dearly loved by all

A bitter pain, a shock severe

It was hard to part with one so dear.
