William George Spissinger, Jr (age 60) passed away at 7:00 AM on Sunday, September 29th 2019 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.
Originally from upstate New York, Bill was a big guy, but he had an even bigger heart. While he had a wide-range of passions, the things he held closest were his friends and family (human & canine alike). He was a kind, selfless person that always put others’ needs before his own. A corrections officer for over 20 years, he had a hard job. Nevertheless, he defined the term “gentle giant.”
Bill was a “Toys R US kid,” always looking out for the latest tech gadgets. On the other hand, he had a spiritual curiosity about him. He was a fan of the paranormal, watching ghost shows and other supernatural phenomena. Knowing him, he’ll probably start pulling pranks on all of his loved ones soon.
When he wasn’t collecting watches, dreaming about sports cars, or yelling at NY Giants games, he enjoyed playing with his four-legged buddies. Dogs held a special place in his heart, especially Spike, Diesel, Zagara, Bella, and Joey. Later in life, he developed a love of travel and the arts.
Spending the majority of his retirement years in South Florida, he recently relocated to Asheville, NC. Loving the beach and mountains equally, he was eager to start the next chapter of his journey.
Bill left a larger than life impression on everyone he met. He made everyone smile; he made everyone laugh. Though his passing has left a void that’ll never be completely filled, he wouldn’t want us to be sad. He would have us enjoy life to the absolute fullest and not sweat the small stuff.
He is survived by his wife Andrea, his daughters Morgan & Eryn, his stepson Alex, and his beloved dog Joey. May his memory be a blessing to us all.
