Wilma Jean Garren Gates

Wilma J. Gates, 63, of Mill Spring, NC went to be with the Lord on February 13th, 2025.

Originally from Hendersonville, NC, she was born to the late Grady C. Garren (d.2023) and the late Veneida Jenkins (d.2007) on October 18th 1961. Wilma worked at the Kounty Line BP for 17 years or more. She loved being with her family & beloved animals, spending time by the beach, and watching her favorite criminal shows. Wilma was a devoted mother, sister, and friend. She loved her people hard and had the most contagious laugh.

Wilma is survived by her beloved children; a daughter, Brandy N Gates (Adam Praytor); two sons, Charlie E. Brown, and Christopher T. Brown; seven grandchildren, Madisyn, Bentley, Riley, Brayden, Tucker, Charlee and Delighla; sister Barbara G. Hill; two brothers, Junior Garren (Peggy), Alex Garren (Geidy); and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was proceeded in death by a sister Deborah Gargus (d.2024), a brother in law Alan Gargus (d.2023) and both of her parents. 

Wilma was a wonderful person who will be dearly missed by many.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday March 15th at Pea Ridge Community Center. Starting around 11am.
